Silverlight 5 supported?

Currently, there's no special support for Silverlight 5, and we cannot guarantee that it will work. We'll try to implement this functionality in one of future updates, but I cannot give you any time estimate at the moment.



BTW, what version of IE do you use - x86 or x64? If you use the x64 version, try working with your application via the x86 one.

Did you get things working with Silverlight 5? We are wanting to convert our apps to use SL 5, so any info about your experience would be helpful.

Unfortunately we still can't test our app in browser (even x32 version of IE9) because TC 8.70 does not see the html generated inside the WebBrowser control. We continue testing in out-of-browser mode.

However it works fine with silverlight objects.

We are creating a product on Windows Azure using HTML 5.0 and Silverlight 5.0.  We plan to use Test Complete version 8.60 to automate our testing for both 32-bit & 64-bit builds. Can you confirm whether this will be feasible or not, please explain why it would not be feasible if this is the case.

TC 8.60 won't work with Silverlight 5.

Can you be more specific? What about SL5 won't work? Olga (above) mentioned that she isn't having any problems with SL5 objects. Does SL5 work on the latest version? If not, what specifically about SL5 doesn't work? Thanks.

TC 8.60 has no support for SL 5. TC 8.70 has limited support for it, and it can test SL 5 applications loaded in x86 browsers.



By 'won't work', I mean that an SL application will not be recognized as Open - TC won't be able to obtain its objects, and only coordinate-based actions will be available. We're currently working on full SL 5 support, but I cannot tell the exact TC version number and date when it will be added.

It appears there is a lot of interest in whether Test Complete 8.7x will be able to support Silverlight 5.



I for one am one of those parties interested in doing so.



Currently I am trialling Test Complete and what I would be interested in finding out is whether you can escillate this issue to the powers that be.  In doing so, it may help with highlighting the importance of this functionality not only with your current customers but also potential customers.



I would be interested to hear back from your team as to what the progress is (if any) since your last post.

We realize that many people need this feature, and development of SL 5 support is currently active. I'd be glad to tell you about the progress on this and give you a time estimate, but I just don't know. There's no exact information on this at the moment. So, I cannot promise anything as you probably understand.



Currently, as I wrote in my previous posts, there's a temporary solution - x86 browsers and TC 8.70. SL 5 support works there. At the present stage, this is a limitation, but you should be able to test it anyway. Some specific things may not work (such as accessing the WebBrowser control as Olga mentioned in this thread), but most areas should work already. So, present and potential customers can start developing SL 5 tests.
