Chetan,

I understand the arguments that you are passing to the script i.e Project Suite, project name and TestGroupItems. Besides this I also need to pass arguments for my project specific needs. Eg: I need to pass the env variable to tell which environment to connect and database to connect.

The sample you have given is given below.

Sample.js "<Path to your project>\<Projectname>.pjs" /p:<ProjectName> /testitemgroup:<groupname - foldername>

The argument that are passed are sent

var tc = new ActiveXObject("TestComplete.TestCompleteApplication.9");

var tci = tc.Integration;

tc.Visible = true;

tci.OpenProjectSuite(projectSuite);

ProjectTestItems = tci.TestSuite(project);

tci.RunProjectTestItem(project, testItemGroup);

I would like to pass as given below.

Sample.js "<Path to your project>\<Projectname>.pjs" /p:<ProjectName> /testitemgroup:<groupname - foldername> env=qa db=usrdb

I would like to pass env=qa and db=usrdb while running the jscript besides the project releated information as given above and this should be sent as command line arguments .

Hi Chethan,

You can specify the entire project item to be run from TestComplete's command line. Refer to the "TestComplete Command Line" article to learn what options you can use.

As for your second question, it has already been discussed here. Look at the threads found here.

Hi,

I have gone through the links which provides information about how to execute tests from commandline.

But this does not have an option to execute groups

Example: I have a project suite created say Project A

I have 3 folders in it - BVT, System, Integration Tests

How can run the folders individually in command line ?

Hi Again,

I would like to add more details to the above:

Lets say i have 1 project with 100 test cases in multiple test scripts.

I have created 3 folders (batch runs / groups) in the project suite and this is how i did it:

- Double click on the Project A (this opens the project test items window on the right hand side

- I have created 3 groups - BVT, System Tests, Functional Tests and added test cases to these groups

How do i execute these groups from command line.

I need to run them in command line in order to achieve integration with cruiseControl build server.

Please help me out with this.

Also, with the cruise control integration to display test complete reports (.mht or .htm), i am facing the following problems:

- While trying to display .mht format report, Cruise control tries to download the file instead of displaying the data. This pops up a save file dialog.

I would like to display the reports on the same window of cruise control .net

- While trying to display .htm report (this report in turn talks to root.xml and other images / js files), .htm is displayed but has a cross domain issue (displays an error message in the CC Net - "Unable to find root.xml in the parent folder...").

I have gone through many blogs but couldnt find the exact solution.

It would be really helpful if you could point me out to the details of resolving these issues.

Hi Tanya,

One quick question. If i have test execute and not test complete (on my automation server), will this JS execute the tests ?

If not, can you please let me know the changes required to the script.

Hi Chethan,

There shouldn't be any problem. TestExecute has the same command-line parameters as TestComplete has. So, everything should be OK. Give it a try!
