Filter via Custom fields

It would be useful if it was possible to filter on custom fields. e.g. Program, Project, Component.

i.e. If I selected a program I would then be only able to see/select a subsection of the projects etc.

      what ever happened with this?  the link no longer works.  I would love to use a feature to populate a custom field based on what is chosen within another custom field.
