yes I already know about the difference between the folder name and th display name. This has been a feature of Windows since Vista cam out.
the issue is that SmartBear have put the files in the ProgramData folder instead of in the Documents folder. Not only is that the wrong place for them (if you follow Microsoft’s guidelines) but - worse - the help tells you the files are in the Docuemnts folder when they are not. Either the help needs changing or the location does.

Do you have preinstalled Windows on your box?
Can https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/general-info/installing/troubleshooting/path-is-too-long.html explain your problem? (I've seen such problem several times.)

Thanks for following up.
My machine is running Windows 10 (but was a Windows 7 machine originally).The instructions in that SmartBear article did not work on my setup.
However, I have just moved the samples to the correct Documents folder so threirt location now macthes the documentation.
So, problem is resolved now.
