Category for the thread or topic
I see that topic summary prefixes appear as below for example [Education] topic summary [Notification] topic summary To describe the actual thing is that not all topics or threads are questions. Some times it is a notification, education, question, useful solution, a defect (specially for open source software, no way to log issue like pro software). If a topic can be categorised then it is easy to follow . Category can't be replaced with Tags. Because, only questions can be closed or marked accept as solution where as other types need not be closed. Recently posted a general purpose script in the ReadyAPI community. Couple of days later received a mail asking did I got answers which is irrelevant. So having category can be useful. This will also help to filter.New Idea2.9KViews2likes2CommentsPossible Duplicate Questions (Repetitive Questions)
Hi Team, I have come up with a small idea which can make Smartbear community more reliable. I am an active member of this community and a regular visitor and have given lot of solutions to the members who needed any help. I come across lots of questions everyday and sometimes I feel that I have already answered this question many times. So, What I needed as a feature in this community is, Your team can add one feature of "POSSIBLE DUPLICATES" which community member can add immeditely if that question was asked earlier. Sometimes, new members are not aware of the funcationality of this community and they ask the same question multiple times. It's just a suggestion, Your team can think over it and come up with some changes very soon. We have the dedicated desktop/web/mobile secions. And we have the "getting started" section. But we don't have a general/advanced/experienced section. (Although I think the old forum did? Can't remember ...) Anyway, I think it would be useful for more advanced questions relating to general usage. So it separates out the "noob" (for want of a better word) from the rest. For instance, a couple of the topics near the top of the "getting started" are currently my question about VBScript custom class use in Script Extensions, variable type casting problems using Python and use of command line parameters to handle global vars when launching TestExecute. For me, these are not "getting started" questions, nor are they specific to any particular type of test/application .....New Idea1.9KViews1like1CommentMultiple Signature option
Right now i can add only 1 signature, there should be a option where i can save multiple signature and select which signature get used at what instance: 1. If i am replying on any topic in community i can choose different signature 2. If i am replying on any private message i can choose different signature. this is a list of currently 163 requests in sequential order. I will not read through it, of course. Without a helpful structure, it is not information, but only noise. So, my proposal: reorganize it in a requirement-management fashioned way. Make it hierarchical. Apply a useful structure, so that the user can do a binary search instead of full read. A useful structure would be the structure of TC's technical elements. And, further: include status information.Has a request been discussed, is it accepted, rejected for what reason,..? Provide filter & search functions on status and content. Regards, ManfredImplemented2.8KViews0likes2CommentsMatching Tags while adding new Tagging
Hello, Found a new feature 'Add Tag'against the posts, this is a welcome. I find it would also be good to show some context sense i.e.,it would be nice to showmatches while typing (while adding tag) from existing tags as this would help to have consistent tags across the community to find related exact tags (normally while adding tag, user can type anything that, different tags for the same topic by different people as notation is not uniform, but may cause to find topics of right ones) Regards, Rao.Implemented5.1KViews0likes3CommentsHow about having a new subtitle /section for new forum/community engine related queries
Hello, As we migrated to new community site, there can be various issues like problem faced by users, data issues, broken links, or enhancements / ideas related to new site can be put in under one sub titile/section. Currently those are going in different places under different sections. Does it make sense? For example, when code snippet is added it is not enabling horizontal scroll bar, so part of the code line is being shown in the next line currently and that may lead to failures when users copy paste it in the script.Implemented4KViews0likes3Comments
